Dr. Ashgriz received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1984. He received his law degree (J.D.) from the State University of New York at Buffalo, in 1996 and is admitted to the New York bar. He is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. patent and trademark office. He is also recipient of TOKTEN Award from the United Nations, New York, NY(1995); Best Paper Award from the Combustion Institute, Columbus, OH (1992; National Science Foundation Initiation Award, Washington, DC, (1990); Ralph Teetor Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers, Detroit, MI (1988); Two Bennet Prize Awards from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA (1981 & 1983). In recognition of outstanding scholarly work in Mechanical Engineering.
